In BiH, we have different opinions about the past, different views on how to overcome the obstacles in the present, and I get the impression that our visions of the future are also opposite to each other. In order to reconcile the opposites, which is a demanding job, we need the political will of all domestic actors, which is lacking, and that is why the situation is getting worse and worse. This can be seen on the internal level, and it is reflected in the diplomatic field as well.”
This was said in an interview for Glas Srpska by the Chairperson of the Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, who, however, believes that things can be better here, but that this means setting things up in a completely different way.
– We must all understand that there is no exclusivity in the sense that one should exclude the other. The biggest obstacle is the need for what should be common to be put in the function of one, and as soon as you have the need for that one to abuse it, you have political fights and disagreements that manifest themselves in different decisions. And the foreign factor, instead of providing help for certain issues, deepens internal gaps. There is a recipe for better things, but everyone must participate in it, so that no one mistreats or belittles anyone, takes away their identity, asks them to accept something that is unconstitutional, and sells it as a big constitutional story.
I think that these are misconceptions and I think that we have already entered a kind of finish in which some things need to be resolved and put on a serious basis. If we want the rule of law to exist, we know how to behave within those frameworks. If we want to be a constitutional country, we must adhere to the constitutional solutions, and if they need to be changed, we know how that goes. Not by the wild, violent effort of some foreigner or local actors. Everything is prescribed, you just have to follow it – said Cvijanović.
