They discussed bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Japan, multilateral cooperation, and the political and security situation in our country. The interlocutors concluded that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Japan, which next year will mark 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, are developing cooperation based on solid foundations.
dr. Bećirović wished the newly appointed ambassador of Japan a successful mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and expressed his hope that the strengthening and improvement of friendly relations between the two countries will continue. He said that economic and development cooperation between the two countries is particularly important, and that there are numerous opportunities and potentials for further investment.
Potential investments of Japanese companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina were also discussed. It was pointed out that Japan is the second most important bilateral donor in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The importance of development aid through the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which has been implemented in our country for many years, was pointed out.
Also, member of the BiH Presidency dr. Denis Bećirović said that he greatly appreciated Japan’s support during the adoption of the Resolution on the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the Genocide in Srebrenica in 1995, during the vote in the United Nations General Assembly.
Ambassador of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina Toshihiro Aiki said that Japan wants to intensify political and economic relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as cooperation on the international level. He pointed out that Japan, as a member of the G-7 and PIC (Peace Implementation Council), supports the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
