The past year has given him the opportunity to present his skills and experience on the international stage, and to bring the knowledge gained at international educational programs to Bihać so that the citizens of the Una-Sana Canton can have a better health service in the field of cardiology.
One of his significant achievements is his participation in the Hypertension School organized by the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) held in Nice, France. At this prestigious meeting, which was attended by participants from all over the world, dr. Handanagić had the opportunity to present his doctoral thesis entitled “Effect of antihypertensive drugs on arterial stiffness”
– At this scientific meeting, one of the topics was precisely arterial stiffness, which enabled me to exchange knowledge with top experts in this field – said doctor Handanagić, emphasizing the importance of connecting with the international professional community.
In addition to international successes, Handanagić was appointed president of the Working Group for Arterial Hypertension at the Association of Cardiologists of Bosnia and Herzegovina. His expertise and commitment were also recognized at the European level, where he became a member of the European Association of Cardiology (FESC).
– This membership makes me part of a large family of European cardiologists, which is an opportunity for further professional development – adds Handanagić.
He pays special attention to the modernization of diagnostic methods in Bihać Cantonal Hospital. He also attended the European Congress for Cardiac Ultrasound, where the latest technologies were presented, including advanced methods such as “strain” analysis and “transesophageal cardiac ultrasound”.
– We plan to implement these methods here in the Una-Sana Canton in the near future – announced Dr. Handanagić, emphasizing the importance of introducing innovations into local health practice.
After a year rich in education and congresses, he is focused on completing and defending his doctoral dissertation.
– The research is finished, and I am currently in the phase of preparing for the defense. This will be the crown of my work so far – he pointed out.
