As a result of the melting of the snow in the early morning hours, a landslide was triggered in one part of Islamovac, which caused damage to the macadam road and a temporary interruption of road communication between this village and the rest of Brčko District.
– Competent services are on the ground and are taking all necessary measures to return the situation to normal as soon as possible – confirmed Marinko Viljušić, head of the Department of Civil Protection after visiting the field.
He added that due to landslides and trees that fell into the river, a natural dam was formed, which represents an additional danger if the rehabilitation is not completed as soon as possible.
“Fortunately, there was no threat to the lives of residents or damage to buildings,” said Sead Fazlović, president of the Islamovac Local Community, adding that it is extremely important to establish road communication with the population that is currently cut off from the rest of the District as soon as possible.
Competent services with full capacities continue with landslide rehabilitation works, and residents of the local community of Islamovac hope that the removal of obstacles and the restoration of road communication will be completed quickly in order to re-establish connectivity with the rest of the southern part of the District.
