A huge wildfire is raging through an upscale part of Los Angeles, destroying homes and creating traffic jams, and 30,000 people have been evacuated under huge clouds of smoke, which have covered much of the metropolitan area.
At least 510 acres of the Pacific Palisades area, between Santa Monica and Malibu, have burned, officials said after already warning of extreme fire danger due to strong winds that arrived after a long drought.
Witnesses reported a large number of homes on fire, which nearly burned their cars as they fled the hills of Topanga Canyon as the fire spread to the Pacific Ocean.
Shelby Kidman, who was in a plane over the Palisades fire, captured aerial footage of the fire.
As she told CNN, the video was recorded as her plane from Salt Lake City was approaching Los Angeles Airport.
Numerous videos have been published on social networks showing how the element of fire engulfs everything in front of it, but people who are running away.
One video shows the rapid evacuation of patients from a hospital near Los Angeles.
