UBS’s profits rose 80% in the first quarter

UBS reported net profit attributable to shareholders of $3 billion in the first quarter, up 80% from the same period last year and above the $2.8 billion analysts expected, according to the LSEG consensus.

The CET1 capital ratio – a key indicator of a bank’s solvency – rose to 14.7%, compared to 14.4% in the previous quarter.

The bank kept its plan to buy back shares worth 3 billion dollars until the next report for the second quarter, after having already realized a buyback of 900 million dollars in the first quarter.

Core profit before tax was $3.9 billion, which is a 54% year-on-year increase and above analysts’ expectations of $3.2 billion, according to the company’s report, Seebiz reports.
