Two months have passed since the tragic tram accident in which Erdoan Morankić lost his life, while young Ella Jovanović is still recovering from serious injuries. Although the tragedy was followed by mass protests by citizens and the fall of the Sarajevo Canton Government, the key question still hangs in the air: Who made the schedule?
The Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office previously responded to N1’s query. They say that they collected extensive documentation, heard a large number of witnesses and conducted forensic medical examinations. When asked when the public can expect the first concrete results of the investigation or a possible indictment, they answer that the investigation is being conducted intensively and that the public will be informed about it in a timely manner.
The investigation should be completed within six months, and legally it can last up to a year. The tram driver tried to react, but failed, lawyer Plećan repeated, adding that the cause of the accident was the tram’s technical malfunction. And if this is established during the court proceedings, more people will be on the dock. At numerous protests, both GRAS drivers and young people claimed that the blame was much broader.
Currently, the driver Adnan Kasapović is suspected of hiding the accident due to negligence and is defending himself from freedom. The public keeps asking when we will have new official information.
And at the place of the tragic accident, great pain is still felt, some lay flowers, some pray for Erdoan Morankić.
