Japan’s Nikkei 225 continued its post-election rally to hit new highs on Tuesday, amid gains in broader Asian markets.
The Japanese market continues to ride the “Takaichi trade” after Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s landslide victory in the House of Commons.
The Nikkei 225 rose 2.77%, nearing the 58,000 mark, while the Topix rose 2.07%, also hitting record highs.
Shares of Softbank Group Corp rose as much as 11.95% on Tuesday after the subsidiary upgraded its full-year forecast for the financial year ending March 31, SEEbiz reports. That follows Monday’s 6.3% gain.
South Korea’s Kospi rose 0.24%, paring some gains, while the small-cap Kosdaq slipped into negative territory and was 1.16% lower.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.63% and China’s CSI 300 was unchanged.
Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.16%, extending gains for a third straight day.
