A major Kuwaiti bank said it would close its headquarters in the capital for two days starting Wednesday, as Iran carries out daily attacks on Gulf countries more than a month after the Middle East war began.
– The National Bank of Kuwait will close its headquarters and branch office in Subhan today, Wednesday, and tomorrow, due to current events and in the interest of everyone’s safety and business continuity – the bank’s statement, reported by the state news agency Kuna, states.
NBK, one of Kuwait’s largest banks, also closed a branch in the Subhan industrial zone, home to security and government facilities and close to the airport, which has been repeatedly targeted by Iran.
Earlier on Wednesday, Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Authority said the airport was the target of an Iranian drone strike, which caused a “large fire” at fuel tanks.
The Gulf states bear the brunt of Iran’s attacks in response to the US-Israeli strikes that triggered the war.
Tehran has threatened to target vital infrastructure across the Gulf, including energy facilities.
