Saša Magazinović, a member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, pointed out that the ‘arrogant drivers’ law is producing results. He stated that in just one day this week, in Sarajevo alone, eight drivers under the influence of narcotics were taken off the road and heavily sanctioned for reckless driving. Not a single driver refused the test.
– Remember the story about the mass refusal of drivers to be tested for drugs? Well, it can’t be like that anymore, unless someone wants to see what detention in the police looks like – said Magazinović.
He added that the law on arrogant drivers is producing results, and that it was worth more than a year and a half to work and fight for this law.
Magazinović states that in other parts of the country, arrogant drivers are punished in various cases, which increases the overall safety of road users.
He points out that the goal of the law is not to punish drivers, but to deter them from reckless driving and endangering people’s lives. Those who do not understand this, think that they are above the law and continue according to their old arrogant habits, await harsh punishments – said Magazinović.
He told Fena that the disturbing statistics of 43,000 traffic accidents per year, thousands of minor and serious injuries and almost 300 deaths oblige us all to work to make these numbers significantly lower.
– That’s why I’m glad to hear information from all parts of the country that the police have started to remove potential killers behind the wheel from the roads. It was high time for the state to confront them and their demonstration of force against innocent people – stated Magazinović.
He appealed to all people “to take seriously the information that the use of cell phones while driving, in addition to reckless driving, has become a very common cause of traffic accidents.”
– Let’s refrain from using cell phones and protect ourselves and others in traffic – said Magazinović
