The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina reminds citizens that convertible banknotes in the denominations of 10 KM, 20 KM, 50 KM and 100 KM issued in the period from 1998 to 2009 are being withdrawn from circulation.
As of today, the decision to withdraw the 10, 20, 50 and 100 convertible mark banknotes released into circulation in the period from 1998 to 2009 comes into force.
The replacement of banknotes, after they cease to be legal tender for cash transactions, will be performed by commercial banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2025.
The Central Bank will continuously replace these banknotes in the full amount and free of charge to commercial banks in the regular procedure of handing over and receiving cash from the Central Bank’s vaults.
After the expiration of the replacement period in commercial banks, the replacement will be performed by the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina within a period of 10 years, starting on January 1, 2026, and ending on December 31, 2035.
The reminders regarding the banknote withdrawn from circulation refer to the following issues by denomination:
Denominations 10 KM, 20 KM, 50 KM and 100 KM with the year of issue 1998;
Denominations of 50 KM and 100 KM with the year of issue 2002;
Denominations of 50 KM and 100 KM with the year of issue 2007;
Denominations 10 KM, 20 KM, 50 KM and 100 KM with year of issue 2008;
Denomination 50 KM with year of issue 2009.
Banknotes that have been withdrawn from circulation do not have a new protective feature, and based on this easily noticeable visual difference, it can be easily determined whether it is an issue that will remain in circulation, or an issue that will cease to be legal tender on January 1, 2025. . year.
