The House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament scheduled the 29th regular session for Wednesday and Thursday, March 11 and 12.
On the agenda will be the extremely important Proposal of the Law on Payment Services in an urgent procedure. The same law should be on the agenda of the next regular session of the National Assembly of the RS.
This means that if in the next month both laws are adopted in the final versions by the entity parliaments, BiH will fulfill the conditions to submit the application for access to the SEPA area to the European Commission before May.
Namely, the European Commission will decide on the applications at the May session.
Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, prof. Ph.D. Jasmina Selimović, in her guest appearance on the Vijesti.ba Podcast, clarified that the application has already been written.
“Drafts of laws on payment services have been prepared in both entities, the entity governments have adopted them and sent them on to the parliamentary and parliamentary procedure. Until the laws are adopted in the final versions, BiH cannot submit an application. We sent a pre-application in December. We are waiting for the entity parliaments, and when that happens, we will send the application,” says Governor Selimović.
Governor Selimović states that after receiving a positive attitude, we still have six months when the European Commission conducts an in-depth analysis of the market and we proceed with the transactions.
Of the neighboring countries, only BiH is not yet part of SEPA, that is, the Single Area for Payments in Euros. Bosnia and Herzegovina loses about 100 million KM annually due to high fees for cross-border payments.
