Residential property prices in Germany rose for the first time in three years in 2025, statisticians said on Wednesday.
According to Destatis, real estate prices ended last year at an average of 3.2 times higher than 12 months earlier.
It is the first price increase since the decline in the average price of houses and apartments in 2022 and in the two following years.
In the fourth quarter, prices increased by three percent compared to the previous year. It was also the fifth consecutive quarter of rising prices. In the three-month growth, prices rose by 0.1 percent.
Real estate prices rose in all regions of Germany, in year-on-year and three-month comparisons, reports SEEbiz.
Buyers paid 5.4 percent more for apartments in rural areas and 4.8 percent more in cities than in the fourth quarter of 2024.
In the seven largest German cities – Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Düsseldorf – the price was on average 2.1 percent higher than in the last quarter of 2024.
