The acting prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Tuzla Canton submitted to the judge for the preliminary proceedings of the Tuzla Municipal Court a proposal to order a detention measure for Nezir Šarić (37) from Tuzla due to the existence of reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of arson in an attempt, which refers to the event of May 30, 2026, when a bottle with flammable material was thrown at the House of the Flame of Peace in Tuzla late in the evening.
˝Šarić is suspected of having come to the building House of the Flame of Peace on the Slana Banja Promenade in Tuzla at around 10:30 p.m. on the specified day and threw a lit bottle towards the back of the building, causing the flames to spread to the dry grassy area nearby, spreading towards the building and leaving traces on the lower part of the outer wall of the House, said Admir Arnautović, spokesman for the Turkish Prosecutor’s Office.
Officers of the Tuzla Police Administration have undertaken numerous operative and investigative actions in order to identify the suspect and shed light on this criminal act. Pursuant to the order of the Prosecutor’s Office and with the order of the Tuzla Municipal Court, searches were carried out of the residential and auxiliary building used by the suspect, where certain items were found that are connected to this and other criminal acts, and Šarić was deprived of his liberty on June 7, 2026.
After the criminal investigation, Šarić was handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office with a report on the crime committed.
The acting prosecutor ordered the investigation and interrogated the suspect.
