Investigators of the Criminal Police Sector of the Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton conducted an extensive police operation aimed at suppressing the illegal possession of weapons, ammunition and explosives, during which 13 people from Tuzla Canton and Republika Srpska were arrested.
The action was carried out in cooperation with the police officers of the competent police administrations and stations of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of TK, and after several months of investigative activities aimed at detecting and documenting criminal acts related to the illegal possession of weapons.
Police officers acted under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Tuzla Canton, by order of the Municipal Court in Kalesija.
Searches in 16 locations
As part of the action, on June 9, 2026, searches were carried out at a total of 16 locations in the area of Kalesija and Živinice. At the same time, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Srpska and the Zvornik Police Department, activities were also carried out in the area of Bratunac, Šeković and Osmak.
During the search, a large amount of firearms, ammunition and other items related to the commission of criminal acts were found and temporarily confiscated.
Confiscated automatic rifles, pistols and explosive devices
According to information from the MUP of Tuzla Canton, during the operation, police officers found and seized automatic rifles, pistols and hunting rifles, as well as mines and explosive devices.
In addition, a large amount of ammunition of various calibers, weapon parts, mobile phones, and other items that will serve as evidence in further criminal proceedings were seized.
All found items will be subject to expert examination and further investigation.
13 people were arrested
By order of the acting prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Tuzla Canton, 13 persons were deprived of their liberty due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of “Illegal possession of weapons or explosive substances” from Article 371, paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
These are persons with initials: MS, AA, FB, MB and JS from Kalesija, KH, SF, HR and HB from Živinice, FH from Sapna, ST from Osmak, NG from Bratunac and NR from Šeković.
The investigation also includes a person with the initials OM from Kalesija, who was previously in custody in another case.
It will be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office
After the criminal processing and completion of the documentation, the suspects will be, in accordance with the decision of the acting cantonal prosecutor and the provisions of the Law on Criminal Procedure of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, handed over to the jurisdiction of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Tuzla Canton.
The Prosecutor’s Office will then decide on further measures to be taken against the suspects, including the possible submission of a motion for detention.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton states that the investigation in this case will continue, and that police officers and the prosecutor’s office will continue to implement additional measures and actions with the aim of fully elucidating all the circumstances and determining the possible responsibility of other persons who could be linked to the illegal possession of weapons and explosive devices.
This action represents the continuation of the activities of security agencies aimed at suppressing illegal weapons and improving the safety of citizens in the area of Tuzla Canton and the wider region, announced the MUP of TK.
