JPMorgan Chase will order its employees to work from offices all five days a week, ending the hybrid work option for thousands of employees and returning to the policy that was in place before the pandemic.
The largest U.S. bank, which employs more than 300,000 people worldwide, is expected to announce this business policy change in the coming weeks, replacing the existing three-day option for many of its employees, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg.
The decision, which could still be changed, would extend existing rules announced in April 2023 that require bank executives to be present all five days a week.
Approximately 60 percent of the bank’s staff – including many traders and branch employees – already work in accordance with this requirement.
CEO Jamie Dimon follows his belief that staff work better when they are in the office together. Previously, he criticized the federal government because it does not require employees to be more regular in their offices, reports Financije hr.
However, the “return” policy, which en masse forces thousands of people back to the office, has not proven to be easy to implement in all companies.
Last year, Amazon ordered employees to return to offices five days a week starting in January, but had to delay the start date for thousands of employees because some cities ran out of office space.
Other firms had to “remind” employees to comply with those requirements.
Let’s also add that JPMorgan Chase management introduced a generative assistant with artificial intelligence for tens of thousands of its employees in August, which is the initial phase of a broader plan to implement this technology throughout the bank.
