In the first quarter, an increase in the demand of companies for loans

Banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina believe that in the first quarter the population’s demand for loans will remain at the same level as the previous one, and that the demand of companies for short-term and/or long-term loans and/or credit lines is expected to increase, according to a survey of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The result from the collected responses of the eight largest banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina, compared to the fourth quarter of last year, indicates that banks do not expect changes in credit standards, both for the population and for companies, writes Srna.

The banks stated that the population’s demand for housing loans continued to grow in the fourth quarter, while the demand for non-purpose loans remained at the level of the previous quarter.

– The conditions for granting loans to households in the fourth quarter of last year remained unchanged compared to the previous quarter. In the last quarter of 2025, compared to the previous quarter, there was no change in the share of rejected applications for household loans – the Central Bank stated.

The survey also showed that companies’ demand for short-term and long-term loans continued to grow in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The net percentage of collected responses from banks in the fourth quarter indicated that the conditions for approving loans to companies remained unchanged compared to the previous quarter.

– In the fourth quarter, compared to the previous quarter, the net result from the collected responses indicates that there was a slight increase in rejected requests for loans to companies – the Central Bank stated.
