The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo confirmed the indictment of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Canton of Sarajevo against Hamza Musić, Muamer Čengić and Emir Hašimbegović for the criminal offense of conspiring to commit criminal offenses related to the criminal offenses of abuse of position or authority and money laundering.
The defendants were entrusted with the tasks of preparing, creating and controlling the daily exchange rate list for Sberbank BH Sarajevo within the Global Markets department.
Hamza Music is accused of having, as the organizer of the group, and Muamer Čengić and Emir Hašimbegović as its members, manipulated the exchange rate list by buying foreign currencies and then entering incorrect parities, i.e. changing the exchange rate and conducting electronic sales of previously purchased currencies, writes Liberation.
By illegally buying and selling foreign currencies, they damaged Sberbank BH and obtained a benefit for themselves in the total amount of KM 1,082,361.40. Hamza Music in the amount of 416,418.65 KM, Emir Hašimbegović in the amount of 364,785.82 KM and Muamer Čengić in the amount of 301,156.94 KM.
Due to the concealment and concealment of the origin and movement of money originating from the illegal conversion of foreign currencies, they further disposed of it – transferred it from one account to another, used the money to buy cars, real estate and foreign currencies, closing – payment of personal obligations on payment and credit cards and withdraw cash from the account. It was proposed to the court that the accused compensate the amount of damage caused in the total amount of 1,082,361.40 KM, and that to the injured parties ASA Banka Sarajevo, as the legal successor of Sberbank BH the amount of 625,458.04 KM and to Triglav Insurance as a recourse creditor the amount of 456,903.36 KM.
– For the main trial, the acting prosecutor proposed to the court the hearing of 14 witnesses, economic experts and the presentation of more than 500 material pieces of evidence, it was announced from Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office.
