Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jasmina Selimović, participated in the round table on the role of financial education in strengthening monetary policies, where she pointed out that the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina does not view financial education as informing the public, but as a structural element of the development of the financial and educational system.
The round table was organized by the World Economic Forum in Washington.
During the discussion, it was emphasized that financial literacy should be systematically included in the processes of economic decision-making and long-term development of the financial system. The importance of strengthening institutional coordination between central banks, educational institutions and the financial sector was particularly emphasized.
Governor Selimović, who participated in this gathering at the invitation of the world’s leading expert in the field of financial education, Annamarie Lusardi, said that the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina is moving from a project-based approach to an institutionalized, sustainable and systemic approach to financial education, reports Fena.
She added that the goal is for BiH to get its own financial literacy strategy, with the necessary inclusion of financial education in educational curricula.
The invitation to participate in this international event is proof of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s strategic commitment and engagement in the field of financial education, with a special focus on improving the financial literacy of young people, developing educational programs in the education system, and strengthening cooperation with domestic and international partners.
Annamaria Lusardi, a renowned professor of economics and accounting at Stanford University, in March 2025 supported the initiative of the Central Bank of BiH for the integration of financial education in primary, secondary and higher education, as well as the importance of BiH’s participation in the PISA test for 2029, the Communications Office of the Central Bank of BiH announced.
