Gold expects seventh consecutive monthly growth

Gold rose to a near one-month high on Friday and headed for a seventh straight month of gains, supported by geopolitical tensions after the United States and Iran extended nuclear talks, while weaker US Treasury yields further boosted gold.

Spot gold rose 0.8 percent to $5,230.56 an ounce, hitting its highest level since Jan. 30 earlier in trading.

Prices have risen by 7.6 percent so far in February.

U.S. gold futures for April delivery settled 1 percent higher at $5,247.90.

“There is a lot of nervousness about geopolitics, you have all the conditions for a high probability of a military operation over the weekend, so it’s a flight to safety,” said Philip Streible, chief market strategist at Blue Line Futures, according to “LiveMint”.
