Flood on Wall Street after the new Trump attacks on Powell

Stocks fell again on Monday because President Donald Trump strengthened Jerome Powella President, asking questions about the Central Bank, while traders received small signs of progress in global trade negotiations.

Dow Jones Industrial Average traded for 1,170 points below, or 3%. S & P 500 lost 3.1%, and Nasdaq Composite lost 3.3 percent.

The technical titaniums “Seven Magnificent” withdrew the main indices lower, with Tesla and Nvidia lost 7% and 6%. Amazon lost 4% as well as Advanced Micro Devices and Meta Platforms. Caterpillar equipment manufacturers dropped 3%.

In publishing on Truth Social, Trump argued that the economy would slow down if Power – which he called “Mr. too late, big loser” – immediately do not lower the interest rates. This follows after another announcement last week, in which Trump also called on the Fed to lower the rates, even by hinting “dismissals” – something that the Economic Advisor to the White House Kevin Hassett told the President’s team.

The dollar was also under pressure, fell to the lowest level in three years as the threats grew, SEEbiz. Gold in the meantime grew on a record high level above $ 3400 for ounce.

“One of the things that becomes very clear is the fundamental tension between the Fed and Administration,” Michael Green, the main strategist Simplify Asset Management. “We are actually in COVID’s again. Uncertainty disrupted the store … I think most people predict that there will be some form of incentive that will eventually appear to neutralize the effects of the tariff.”

Investor’s trust also disrupted a lack of progress in global trade. If nothing else, tensions seemed to have increased with China because the country has warned other nations not to make any agreement with the USA to harm China.

The S & P 500 index fell for more than 8% of 2. April, when Trump announced a series of fees on imports from other countries. Nasdaq lost almost 10% in that time, and Dow fell 9%.

“We really think about this as an endless environment in terms of direction … and that is especially because we simply do not know where the tariffs end up,” Robert Haworth, a senior investment strategist in the US Bank, in the CNBC interview. “This is a market trying to clarify the direction, not get a lot of conclusions.”

Haworth added: “If uncertainty continues for a long time – which means more quarters – I think that becomes a bigger challenge for corporate earnings and making decisions, and we have seen some of that in the season of earnings.”
