The police in Sarajevo took security measures after reports were received about allegedly planted explosive devices in two shopping centers in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with death threats to the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović.
As confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, the reports were received via e-mail and refer to Sarajevo City Center and the Alta shopping center.
On the ground, they act in accordance with valid protocols, and competent services check the credibility of applications and the safety condition of the facilities.
Police officers are securing the locations and are currently not allowing visitors to enter while the investigation is underway.
In the threatening email, as reported by local media, it is stated that a kilogram of explosives was placed in SCC, and twice as much in Alta with a remote detonator. It was also stated, among other things, that “after the action, they will also kill President Denis Bećirović”.
Such situations are a frequent occurrence in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, considering that in previous years, similar reports were recorded that related to shopping centers, educational institutions and state institutions.
In earlier cases, threats occasionally caused the interruption of classes and the transition of schools to an online work model, and the competent institutions adopted special procedures for dealing with crisis situations of this kind.
