Central Banking awarded the CBBH award for initiative in the field of financial stability

The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the winner of the prestigious international award “Central Banking”, a media and publishing agency based in Great Britain.

This exceptional award was given to the Central Bank for a comprehensive and strategic approach to strengthening the resilience of the financial system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The recognition is a confirmation that during 2025, the Central Bank of BiH successfully implemented reform and development activities that have long-term significance for preserving financial stability, improving institutional resilience and supporting sustainable economic growth.

In the explanation of the award, the complexity of the environment in which the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina operates, and its ability to, as one of the truly strong and independent state institutions, gather relevant actors with its credibility and initiate important changes, are highlighted.

Among the key activities that have been recognized are the completion of a regulatory framework harmonized with European Union standards as part of preparations for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), the development of an instant payment system through the TIPS Clone project in cooperation with the Bank of Italy, as well as strengthening the financial sector’s cyber resilience through the establishment of mechanisms for exchanging information on cyber risks and incidents – the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

The strides made by the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of sustainable finance were particularly highlighted, primarily activities to include climate risks in the macroprudential framework, then initiatives aimed at financial inclusion and gender equality, as well as reforms in the field of cash and the improvement of the design of convertible banknotes. In addition, an important segment of the overall approach is continuous work on the promotion of financial education, with the aim of strengthening the resilience of society and the economy in the long term, reports Fena.

Governor Jasmina Selimović made an announcement on the occasion of awarding the award.

– We are pushing the boundaries, and through strengthening our payment system, cyber resilience, gender inclusiveness and other structural reforms, we continue to strengthen institutional resilience and support the economic growth of Bosnia and Herzegovina, even in a complex operational environment – said Selimović.

In the coming period, the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to carry out activities aimed at preserving monetary and financial stability, improving institutional capacities and strengthening the public’s trust in the financial system of Bosnia and Herzegovina – it is stated in the Bank’s statement.
