The Municipal Court in Bihać confirmed the indictment of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Una-Sana Canton against Čaušević Belmin (26) from Bihać because there is a well-founded suspicion that he committed the crime of violent behavior towards two children. The decision extended his detention after the confirmation of the indictment.
We remind you that on December 20, Čaušević was deprived of his liberty because he hit an 11-year-old and a 13-year-old in the head with a closed fist, who suffered minor physical injuries. Then, at the proposal of the Prosecutor’s Office, he was sentenced to one month’s detention due to the existence of special circumstances that justify the fear that he will repeat criminal acts for which a prison sentence of 3 years or more can be imposed.
For the same reason, the Prosecution proposed extending custody after the indictment was filed, which the Municipal Court in Bihać accepted and extended custody to the accused Čaušević after the indictment was confirmed. According to that decision, detention can last no longer than 1 year, with the Court checking the justification of detention after every 2 months from the date of the last decision on detention.
Considering that it is a crime committed to the detriment of two children, the Prosecutor’s Office conducted the investigation with particular urgency, and in the proceedings, the validity of the indictment will be proven with the statements of witnesses, experts and material evidence.
In the following period, a plea hearing is expected to be scheduled before the Municipal Court in Bihać.
