The maritime accident, in which three people died near the Split Gate today, and one person is still being sought, involved a passenger ship of a private company with 118 passengers and a sailboat of the French flag on which the passengers were killed and which sank, reported the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure.
At the time of the accident, there were 118 passengers and 7 crew members on the passenger ship, while there were eight people on the sailboat, three of whom died, while one person is still being searched for, writes Index.hr. The remaining four people from the sunken French sailboat were pulled from the sea.
Maritime forensic expert Damir Višić warned that it is still too early to draw conclusions about the cause of the serious maritime accident in Splitski vrata, because data is still being collected.
– A ship shorter than 20 meters must avoid larger ships in waterways and narrow channels. Why this happened, too little information has come down to us. Maybe there was a technical failure, Višić said.
The search continues: A drone inspects a sunken yacht
The Captain of the Split Port Authority Željko Kuštera confirmed that the Coast Guard drone of the Croatian Navy will inspect the yacht that sank after a collision with a catamaran.
The yacht, about 14 meters long, is located at a depth of 50 to 60 meters, and one person is still being searched for, writes Federalna.ba.

Doctor of emergency medicine Željka Radaković confirmed that the first report about the accident was received at 11:37 am.
Emergency teams from Supetar and the fast boat of the Croatian Institute of Emergency Medicine were immediately dispatched to the field.
Rescue and the condition of the injured
According to available information, three people died in the accident, while one person is still being searched for.
Four people were slightly injured and transported to the Split Clinical Hospital Center, where they were classified as minor injuries.
The Coast Guard, Port Authority and emergency medical services participated in the rescue operation, while the condition of the catamaran passengers is being checked, for which there is no information about the injured yet, he says. HRT.
