A capital market development project was presented in Brčko, which entails the establishment of an international stock exchange in the district by the end of the year, with the support of American investors.
The mayor of Brcko, Siniša Milić, said that the district managed to turn political stability into a development opportunity, stressing that it was precisely the stable institutional environment that attracted a group of American investors.
He stated that the launch of the stock exchange will be a strong recommendation to other investors that Brčko is a safe area for capital, and announced changes to compatible laws, primarily in the area of tax policy, in order to further encourage the registration of new companies.
The President of the Brčko District Assembly, Damir Bulčević, reminded that the Securities Market Law was recently adopted, which created a transparent legislative framework at the request of investors.
He specified that the Commission for Securities has a deadline of 30 days to adopt the statute, while the by-laws necessary for the start of the stock exchange should be completed within four months.
The President of the Securities Commission, Muamer Ahmetspahić, expects that the stock exchange will be in operation by the end of the year, while the full volume of business is expected for the following year.
He emphasized that two international experts with experience in world markets will be included in the work of the Commission, because the domestic staff currently does not possess the specific knowledge required for modern stock exchange operations.
Brcko Deputy Mayor Anto Domić believes that the establishment of the capital market represents a new development step that will enable faster movement of goods, services and knowledge, and contribute to the stay and return of the population, reports BHRT.
Senior advisor in the company “Capital markets development” Rafi Gregorian assessed that the large attendance at the presentation shows the high level of interest of the business and regulatory community in what the stock exchange can offer.
Investment Manager in SCO Group Gleb Dajčkov confirmed that the business community sees potential in this project, stressing that Brčko is currently a very interesting location for the economic development of the entire region.
The presentation at the European University was also attended by representatives of the American Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as numerous officials from the field of finance and economy.
