A terrible crime took place on Tuesday in the Serbian settlement of Arilje when Branko P. (41) shot and killed a married couple, Predrag N. (40) and Ivana N. (37).
Residents of Arilje exchanged messages of sadness and disbelief over the fact that the couple, who left behind two young daughters, was killed. However, some of them described a gruesome event in which, only by sheer luck, there were no more victims.
The double murder of a married couple from Arilje took place in a restaurant in this town when Branko P., who had a business relationship with them for some time, opened fire on them in a full bar. Predrag was killed on the spot, while Ivana fought for her life, but soon succumbed to her injuries, he writes Telegraf.rs.
In a full cafe, he shot Predrag and then Ivana
According to some of the residents of Arilje, last night the person arrested for this crime in a full cafe first shot Predrag and then Ivan, who at the time were at two different ends of the bar.
“To shoot in a crowd of people at their employers, first at the boss, then go to another part of the cafe and kill his wife… The whole town is mourning”, wrote one Ariljan resident, while another fellow citizen added information that at the time of the shooting, the cafe was full and that there were also children in it.
“In a cafe full of people, including children, a life sentence is too small,” he wrote.
Many had only words of praise for Ivana and Predrag, describing them as wonderful people and exceptional parents. The motive for this murder is still unknown, and some claim that it is about unresolved business relations.
There was an argument before the murder
According to Telegraf.rs, the killer was known as a problem in the town. Immediately before the murder, he had an argument with a married couple with whom he had a business relationship, after which he returned to his car, took a weapon and re-entered the bar.
Although the guests of the bar calmed him down beforehand so that he wouldn’t cause a problem, no one noticed that he returned to the cafe with a gun. They only became aware when he fired a shot in a crowded bar.
“At the time of the shooting, there was chaos. It was immediately clear to the guests of the bar that Predrag would not survive. Even if EMS had been on the scene the same second, he wouldn’t have stood a chance. The guests of the bar saw Branko before he entered and shot. He got out of the car, wearing short sleeves and touching his waist. In the bar, he had an argument with Predrag, so he went out to his car and returned with a gun.
Bar patrons tried to calm him down after the argument, but he was determined to cause trouble. “No one saw that he was carrying a weapon because he kept his hand behind his back,” say residents of Arilje.
