A White House official told CNBC on Tuesday that a second round of talks between Washington and Tehran is being discussed. Nothing has been officially scheduled yet, said the official, who asked to remain anonymous to discuss the administration’s internal plans.
“We’ve been invited by the other side,” President Donald Trump said Monday. “We would love to do a deal,” he added.
Oil reversed early losses and traded higher. West Texas Intermediate was up 0.47% at $91.72 a barrel by 12:49 a.m. ET. Brent crude oil rose by 1.03% to $95.77 per barrel, SEEbiz reports.
South Korea’s Kospi rose 2.87%, while the small-cap Kosdaq rose 2.97%. Shares of information technology services provider Samsung SDS rose 20% after news that private equity firm KKR will buy $820 million of its convertible bonds.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 was up 0.89%, while the Topix rose 0.57%. Shares of Suntory Holdings rose 1.69% on news that the company will buy Daiichi Sankyo’s OTC unit to expand its healthcare business for about $1.2 billion.
Mainland China’s CSI 300 rose 0.17%, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.76%. China’s finance ministry said it will issue 15.5 billion yuan worth of yuan-denominated government bonds in Hong Kong on April 22, according to Reuters.
India’s Nifty 50 rose 1.75% after the holiday on Tuesday. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 was unchanged.
