The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade filed an indictment against 25-year-old Nikola Đ, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina. (25) on suspicion that on October 26 last year in New Belgrade he caused a traffic accident in which three people died, while one person was seriously injured.
The prosecution suggested that Nikoli Đ. extend the detention due to the risk of escape, the possibility of repeating the crime and disturbing the public, reports RTS.
Also, it was proposed to the court that after the main trial, the defendant should be sentenced to the maximum prison sentence, as well as to impose a mandatory measure of banning him from driving a motor vehicle in relation to all types and categories of vehicles for a period of 5 years.
As stated, Nikola Đ. he caused the accident under the influence of alcohol (1.86 per thousand) and the psychoactive substance of the narcotic drug marijuana.
The Prosecutor’s Office points out that the defendant did not stop in front of the marked pedestrian crossing, when his passage was forbidden at the traffic light, but entered the intersection at a high, unadjusted speed of about 110 kilometers per hour, and hit the front side of the vehicle with the right side of the “Hyundai I30” passenger car driven by DK
As a result of the impact, her vehicle rotated to the right side and hit a traffic light pole and an electric lighting pole with the right side, as a result of which DK, as well as passengers from the same vehicle, B.Ž. and M.Ž. sustained injuries from which they died on the spot, while JP, a passenger in the vehicle driven by the defendant, sustained serious injuries.
