Today, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) are conducting a search of residential and auxiliary buildings and movable property in six locations in the Sarajevo and Central Bosnia Cantons.
Searches are carried out by order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that the criminal offenses of “Association for the purpose of committing criminal offenses” have been committed in connection with the criminal offense of “Illicit traffic in narcotic drugs”, “Organizing a group of people or associations for the smuggling or distribution of non-customs goods” and “Smuggling” prescribed by the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the criminal offense “Forgery of a document” prescribed by the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the past period, i.e. since November 2024, the members of the previously mentioned organized crime group have been using their known method to obtain possession of stolen or stolen vehicles in the territory of the European Union, and have transported them across the state border of Bosnia and Herzegovina, avoiding the payment of customs duties. After the vehicle arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina, they obtained the identification data of vehicles with the same or similar characteristics and equipment in a manner known to them, and then using the acquired identities redid the identification data on the disputed vehicles, then forged customs documentation and registered them as such with the competent authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and made such vehicles available to themselves and other persons for daily use and further sale. Also, the members of the aforementioned group were actively involved in the trade of narcotics, weapons and military equipment, from which they obtained illegal property benefits in the form of money or other movable things of value.
Operational actions “Dawn” are carried out in cooperation with police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Central Bosnia Canton, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and the Administration for Indirect Taxation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, announced SIPA.
