In the first five months of this year, 5,171 cases were received, which represents an increase of 22 percent compared to the same period last year. Despite the significantly higher influx of cases, the prosecution managed to solve a total of 5,449 cases, that is, 1,134 cases more than in the same period in 2025, which represents a growth of 26.3 percent.
A particularly significant result was achieved in solving old cases, which represent one of the institution’s key strategic priorities. In the period January-May 2026, 797 old cases were resolved, while in the same period of the previous year, 357 were resolved. This represents an increase of as much as 123.2 percent.
The percentage of implementation of old cases increased from 49.9 percent to 63.1 percent, which achieved significant progress in reducing the backlog of cases and strengthening the right of citizens to receive justice in a timely manner.
A significant contribution to more efficient work was made by the more intensive merging of subjects. During the first five months of 2026, 600 cases were merged, which is 78.6 percent more than the year before. This approach enables faster management of procedures, more rational use of resources and more uniform decision-making.
The results also show increased procedural activity of the prosecution. The number of charges filed increased by 6.6 percent, while the number of orders not to conduct an investigation increased by 21.1 percent, which indicates more efficient prosecutorial decision-making and processing of a larger number of cases.
The achieved results confirm that the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Tuzla Canton is successfully responding to the increased volume of work, simultaneously improving work efficiency, reducing backlogs and strengthening citizens’ confidence in the judicial system.
