International festival of tea and medicinal herbs Tea-fest, is being held in Sarajevo on Liberation Square – Alija Izetbegovic.
The fest, which started today, will last until June 14.
Fest will bring together representatives of companies and independent producers from BiH and neighboring countries.
The main objectives of the event are to promote the use of tea and herbs, and to improve business relations and contacts between interested individuals and organizations in this field.
“The focus of this year’s fest is on the cultivation of medicinal plants, in order to preserve the unique biodiversity of BiH,” said Samira Katica-Arnautovic, director of the Festival.
According to estimates by USAID / Sida FARMA project, around 600 hectares in BiH is currently planted with medicinal and aromatic herbs, and that area continuously grows.
Given the great potential in this sector, some of the examples of successful cultivation of medicinal plants will be promoted during the festival.
Tea-Fest is organized by environmental non-governmental organization ”Part of the Heart” with the support of the municipalities Center and the Old City, the Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, and Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
